October/November Prayer Letter
Happy Thanksgiving Family and Friends in Christ,
Many of the Psalms are centered around the theme of thanksgiving because the psalmists knew that all that we are and all that we have is because of God. One of my favorite Psalms is Psalm 100: “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and truth endureth to all generations.” As the world around us is growing ever darker and more evil, we as God’s children should continually give praise and thanks to our heavenly Father for his grace and mercy which he richly pours out on us. We thank God today that we can say “we are his people and the sheep of his pasture” because of the sacrifice of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. All of our praise and thanksgiving belong to Him. We want to share with you, our prayer warriors, things that we are thankful for.
❖ We give thanks for each of our faithful supporting churches and families that pray for us and give toward the ministry in Ecuador. Your prayers have been an encouragement through nearly 30 years of ministry. God has been faithful to answer prayers as we have seen people’s lives changed and churches being established for God’s glory and honor.
❖ We give thanks for God’s daily protection and provisions. God goes before us, especially on Tuesdays as we travel an hour and a half to Alausi to teach Bible Institute classes. The number of students studying diminished from the first class, but those that are attending now are faithful and very interested in studying the deep things of God’s Word
❖ We give thanks for our church family here in Riobamba. It is exciting to see them grow in their walk with the Lord. We are thankful for the men in our church who are taking the leadership role, and praying for Santiago, who feels God’s calling to be the pastor of the church in the near future. We are also very thankful for the newest member of our church – Victoria Isabella – who was born on October 11. This past Sunday, she was dedicated to the Lord during our church service. It is a blessing to have children in our church.
❖ We give thanks to God because the ministry is in His hands. We long for new contacts and open doors to share the Gospel, but we wait patiently on the Lord. Our new contacts, Jorge and Veronica, who were attending the study on Friday nights, have stopped coming. It is always disappointing and sad when people do not want to know the truth, but we keep praying for them and try to stay in contact with them.
❖ We give thanks for our children and grandchildren who are all together in Ohio. God has been gracious to give us a house so that they can all have a place to live. Praising the Lord that they all have jobs and are serving the Lord in a local church. Above all, so very thankful that they each know the Lord as their personal Savior. Two of our grandchildren, Lauren and Caleb, are also God’s children: and we pray for the day when Noah also will make that decision as well.
Thank you for letting us share with you our thanksgivings. Remember us in your prayers this holiday as this will be our first time ever to be by ourselves, without children or grandchildren. It will be a little lonely, but when you have Christ in your life you are never alone. “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, joy, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen” Jude 24-25
