Summer Greetings Family and Friends, An important reason for writing prayer letters is to share with you, our readers, praises and petitions for the ministry here in Ecuador. Without prayer the ministry will seem weak and powerless. The psalmist David knew the importance of talking with his God as he wrote many of his songs regarding prayer. Psalm 5:1-3, (one of my favorites) says: "Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up." David knew and trusted in God to hear and answer his requests. We are so thankful for a God who is trustworthy and faithful to hear our prayers and know what is best for us as He answers according to His will. With this in mind, we covet your prayers as Dave, Angel, and Klever leave for Peru on Saturday, June 2. For Angel and Klever, this will be a first-time ministry for them outside of the country. They are so excited to be a part of the Jeremiah 38 medical clinic team headed for Iquitos, Peru. A large part of their ministry will be counselling the patients that come to the clinics. Pray with us that they will get to share the Gospel with many of the Peruvians and see many come to receive the Lord Jesus. This year I (Cindy) decided to stay here in Riobamba and let the three men go. Pray for me as I will be seven days by myself. I am hoping to get some preparation work done for the team coming here in August, as well as some paperwork gathering for our visas, that need to be renewed. I am not fond of being by myself, but I know that God is with me and that He keeps me safe in His care. Prayers are needed for the medical team coming in August. Dave met this week with the mayor of Chambo to get needed permission for holding these clinics. The country is very strict in their laws. Praise the Lord the mayor and his wife were very receptive, and are willing to help us in any way they can. They will be doing all the preparation work for setting up the clinics in five different communities around Chambo. Pray for the people that will be coming to these clinics, that their hearts will be receptive to the Word of God. We are praying for future contacts so that a church can be established in Chambo. Also, the same prayers for Alausi and the meeting with the mayor in that town. The group coming will be 35 people, so we will be dividing them between Alausi and Chambo. Clinics will be held for five days, in the mornings, in different rural communities; and then in the afternoons a VBS will be held in the towns of Alausi and Chambo. The team will be exhausted by the time they head back to the States. There is much work to be done, but we are so excited to see how God is going to use this team for His honor and glory. Praising the Lord for the Bible Institute students in Riobamba and in Alausi as they finished up book two -Old Testament Survey. Dave gave them two assignments as they finished the course. One was to pick a book of the Old Testament and write a synopsis, and the second was to memorize the books of the Old Testament in order. What a pleasant surprise that each of the students successfully memorized them and were able to orally cite them in front of the class. Continue praying as they begin book three - New Testament Survey, after Dave returns from Peru. Our hearts' desire to make new contacts and see new Bible studies being started has not come to fruition. But we pray everyday for God's timing as we wait patiently on Him. In the meantime we continue to encourage the believers both in Riobamba and in Alausi to be a light in this dark world and take every opportunity to share the Word.
Thank you for praying for the Jenkins' family, as we minister both here in Ecuador and our children ministering in Ohio. Praying that God will use each of you these summer months. "What you sow into the lives of others is the harvest you will reap tomorrow." God Bless.
Together in the King’s Service, Dave and Cindy Jenkins
